Through 7 am, scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms are moving generally west-southwest around 10 to 15 knots across the coastal waters surrounding the Florida Keys and near portions of the lower island chain, particularly along the nearshore waters just south of Key West. Most of the activity is ongoing across the Straits of Florida and Hawk Channel. Showers and the occasional thunderstorm will be capable of producing blinding downpours, wind gusts up to 30 knots, and occasional lightning strikes. $$
