* WHAT...For the Small Craft Advisory, northwest winds 10 to 20
  kt with gusts up to 30 kt and waves 1 to 2 ft. For the Gale
  Watch, southwest winds 15 to 25 kt with gusts up to 35 kt and
  waves 6 to 9 ft possible.

* WHERE...Grand Portage to Grand Marais MN, Grand Marais to
  Taconite Harbor MN and Taconite Harbor to Silver Bay Harbor MN.

* WHEN...For the Small Craft Advisory, until noon CST Thursday.
  For the Gale Watch, from Thursday afternoon through Thursday
  evening.

* IMPACTS...Strong winds can cause hazardous waves which could
  capsize or damage vessels and reduce visibility.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Wind gusts may drop below 20 knots for a
  time early this morning and again Thursday morning.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Mariners should consider altering plans to avoid possible
hazardous conditions.  Remain in port, seek safe harbor, alter

This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for portions of Lake Superior
and the Nearshore waters of western Lake Superior.

.DAY ONE...Today and Tonight

Strong northwest winds will persist today and tonight, with gusts
of 25 to 30 knots. Small Craft Advisories are in effect.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Thursday through Tuesday

Strong southwest winds will pick up Thursday morning ahead of the
next clipper system. There is a 70 to 90% chance of gales to 35
knots over portions of the North Shore waters Thursday afternoon
and evening. Small Craft Advisories remain in effect through
Friday morning. A Gale Watch has been issued for portions of the
North Shore and Outer Apostle Islands for this potential.
