Winds of 15 to 20 knots with gusts of up to 30 knots are expected, with building waves. The largest waves will be found along the North Shore. Small Craft Advisories are in effect from noon today until midnight tonight for the Outer Apostle Islands and northeast of Grand Marais along the North Shore. .DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Wednesday through Monday A cold front will pass across western Lake Superior late Tuesday night which will veer winds northwesterly with speeds of 15 to 25 knots with gusts around 30 knots beginning Wednesday. There is a 10-30% chance of gales to 35 knots over portions of the North Shore waters near Grand Marais and Grand Portage. Winds and waves will gradually diminish late Wednesday night. Another period of strong northwest winds is forecast as a clipper passes over the region Thursday night and Friday. Winds will strengthen from the southwest and become hazardous to small craft before veering northwesterly and strengthening further in the wake of another cold front.
