Superior...Eastern Lake Superior and Western Lake Superior.

.DAY ONE...Today and Tonight

Northwest to northerly gales up to 40 knots are expected tonight
across mainly the central lake. Heavy freezing spray is also
expected across the entire lake (save for maybe the far east). See
the latest Open Lake Forecast and Marine Weather Message for
additional details.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Monday through Saturday

North to northwest gales to 40 knots are expected Monday across
mainly the central lake. Heavy freezing spray will accompany
this, likely continuing into Tuesday if not Wednesday as well.

* WHAT...For the Gale Warning, north winds 25 to 35 kt with
  gusts up to 40 kt and waves 9 to 14 ft expected. For the Heavy
  Freezing Spray Warning, heavy freezing spray at a rate of 2 cm
  per hour or greater expected, and may rapidly accumulate on
  vessels.

* WHERE...Manitou Island to Point Isabelle MI, Point Isabelle to
  Lower Entrance of Portage Canal MI, Lower Entrance of Portage
  Canal To Huron Islands MI Including Keweenaw and Huron Bays,
  Huron Islands to Marquette MI and Lake Superior West of Line
  from Manitou Island to Marquette MI Beyond 5NM from shore.

* WHEN...For the Gale Warning, from 1 AM to 1 PM EST Monday. For
  the Heavy Freezing Spray Warning, from 1 AM to 7 PM EST Monday.

* IMPACTS...Operating a vessel in heavy freezing spray is
  hazardous. Freezing spray may render mechanical and electronic
  components inoperative. Rapid ice accretion on decks and
  superstructures may result in a catastrophic loss of stability.
  Strong winds will cause hazardous waves which could capsize or
  damage vessels and reduce visibility.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Mariners should prepare for dangerous accumulation of ice on
their vessel. If possible, remain in port, avoid the warning area
or conduct mitigation.

Mariners should alter plans to avoid these hazardous conditions.
Remain in port, seek safe harbor, alter course, and/or secure the
vessel for hazardous conditions.
