This Outlook is for Northwest and West Central Arkansas as well as much of Eastern Oklahoma. .DAY ONE...Today and Tonight. DANGEROUS HEAT. RISK...Significant. AREA...Eastern Oklahoma and Northwest Arkansas. ONSET...Late Morning. AREA AT GREATEST RISK...Mainly Arkansas River Valley locations. DISCUSSION... Dangerously hot conditions will continue today across all of Eastern Oklahoma and northwest Arkansas with afternoon heat index values ranging between 105-112 degrees. The hottest conditions will impact west central Arkansas and parts of southeast Oklahoma where an Excessive Heat Warning will be in effect from noon to 9pm. Elsewhere, a Heat Advisory will also be in effect from noon to 9pm. SPOTTER AND EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT ACTION STATEMENT... Spotter Activation Not Expected. .DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Tuesday through Sunday. TUESDAY and WEDNESDAY...Thunderstorm Potential...Dangerous Heat Potential. THURSDAY...Dangerous Heat Potential. FRIDAY through SUNDAY...Thunderstorm Potential...Dangerous Heat Potential. EXTENDED DISCUSSION... Chances for showers and storms will increase late Tuesday and continue into Wednesday in association with an upper wave and approaching cold front. Slightly cooler temperatures may be felt across parts of the area in the wake of this system Wednesday and Thursday, but any relief will be short lived as hot conditions return by the end of the work week. Chances for showers and storms may return to at least parts of the area this upcoming weekend as another front approaches from the north.
