ONSET...Ongoing. DISCUSSION... Dangerous heat continues across the region this afternoon with heat index values of 105 to 110 degrees common. Isolated thunderstorms may develop by mid afternoon across portions of northeast Oklahoma and northwest Arkansas. A brief strong to severe storm would be possible with locally strong outflow winds the primary concern. Additional storms may spread into portions of the area late tonight and these storms would also pose a risk of locally damaging winds. SPOTTER AND EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT ACTION STATEMENT... Local Spotter Activation May Be Needed. .DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Wednesday through Monday. WEDNESDAY...Thunderstorm and Dangerous Heat Potential. THURSDAY...Dangerous Heat Potential. FRIDAY through SUNDAY...Thunderstorm and Dangerous Heat Potential. MONDAY...Dangerous Heat Potential. EXTENDED DISCUSSION... An extended period of dangerous heat is forecast to continue through the upcoming weekend. Heat stress impacts may steadily intensify given the long duration of hot and humid conditions. Localized and brief breaks from the heat area possible due to thunderstorms on Wednesday and again over the weekend.
