SEVERE THUNDERSTORM. RISK...Limited. AREA...Northeast and East Central Oklahoma and Northwest Arkansas. ONSET...Mid Afternoon. HEAVY RAIN. RISK...Limited. AREA...Northeast and East Central Oklahoma and Northwest Arkansas. ONSET...Mid Afternoon. DISCUSSION... Showers and thunderstorms are expected to increase by mid to late afternoon, expanding in coverage into the overnight hours. A limited threat for strong to severe storms will exist into the evening across parts of northeast and east central Oklahoma, as well as northwest Arkansas. Damaging winds and hail up to the size of half dollars will be the main concerns with any severe storms that do develop. In addition, available moisture will support heavy rainfall with the stronger storms, which could lead to a localized flash flooding threat especially in urban areas. SPOTTER AND EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT ACTION STATEMENT... Local Spotter Activation May Be Needed. .DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Monday through Saturday. MONDAY...Thunderstorm Potential. TUESDAY AND WEDNESDAY...No Hazards. THURSDAY...Thunderstorm Potential. FRIDAY...Thunderstorm and Heavy Rain Potential. SATURDAY...No Hazards. EXTENDED DISCUSSION... Showers and thunderstorms are likely to be ongoing Monday morning, with a slow end from northwest to southeast through Monday night. A limited threat for both severe weather and locally heavy rain will continue into the day Monday, especially across far eastern Oklahoma and northwest and west central Arkansas.
