Heat index values are expected to exceed 105 degrees across most of Arkansas with some of eastern Arkansas forecast to experience heat index values at or above 110 degrees on Tuesday afternoon. It will be imperative again on Tuesday to practice heat safety by staying hydrated and taking multiple breaks out of this dangerous heat in a location with adequate air conditioning. .DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Wednesday through Monday Temperatures will be slightly cooler on Wednesday and Thursday with some rain possible on Wednesday. While a few stronger storms can not be ruled out, widespread severe weather is not expected. Very hot and humid conditions return for Friday and into the weekend. .Spotter Information Statement... PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Young children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles under any circumstances. Take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside. When possible reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing when possible. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments.
