Isolated lightning storms are possible today south of Orlando. Gusty winds to 40 mph, occasional lightning strikes, and brief heavy rain will accompany any stronger storms that develop. .RIP CURRENT AND SURF IMPACT... There is a Moderate Risk of rip currents at area beaches today. Always swim near a lifeguard and never swim alone. .RIVER FLOOD IMPACT... The Saint Johns River near Astor is forecast to remain in Moderate Flood Stage into late week, before falling into Minor Flood Stage on Saturday. However, increasing heavy rain potential later this week and into the weekend near or upstream from Astor may halt the river`s decline. .DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Tuesday through Sunday. Isolated lightning storms are forecast through early this week, mainly south of Orlando. Brief heavy rain and gusty winds will accompany any stronger storms. A Moderate to High risk of dangerous rip currents will continue at the beaches through the week and into the weekend. Flooding along the Saint Johns River, particularly at Astor, will continue through this week at least. Potential Tropical Cyclone nine is forecast to develop further and quickly between the northwest Caribbean and eastern Gulf over the next couple of days. It is too early to determine specific impacts this may bring to East Central Florida. However, shower and lightning storm chances look to increase Wednesday into the weekend and there is a growing concern for heavy rainfall. Other hazards such as strong winds and tornadoes may also come into play.
