Scattered thunderstorms will be possible today and tonight. The primary hazards will be lightning strikes and gusty winds. Locally heavy rainfall will also be possible, so a Flood Watch is in effect for the Florida Keys tonight. .DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Friday through Wednesday. Isolated to scattered thunderstorms are expected from Friday through Wednesday. The primary hazards will be lightning strikes and locally gusty winds. Locally heavy rainfall will also be possible through Friday night. Small Craft Advisories may be required for portions of the Florida Keys coastal waters Monday through Wednesday due to freshening easterly breezes. .SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT... flood-prone locations.

Through midnight, a cluster of showers and thunderstorms will track northeastward at around 25 mph, through the Upper Keys and surrounding nearshore waters. This activity will produce wind gusts of 35 mph, blinding downpours, and occasional lightning strikes. This activity is on the leading edge of a band of rain with embedded showers a few thunderstorms stretching along the island chain and out into the distant Florida Straits off of Rebecca Shoal. Any island location may receive an additional one quarter to three quarters of an inch of rain. $$

Lower Keys in Monroe County.
* WHEN...Until 115 AM EDT.
* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 1019 PM EDT, National Weather Service Meteorologist
detected heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Minor flooding is
ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the advisory area.
Between 1.5 and 3 inches of rain have fallen.
- Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 1.5 inches are expected
over the area. This additional rain will result in minor
flooding.
- Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Key West, Big Coppitt Key, Boca Chica, Boca Chica Channel
Bridge, Shark Key, Bay Point, Saddlebunch Keys, Geiger Key,
Sugarloaf Key and Upper Sugarloaf Key.

Do not drive your vehicle into areas where the water covers the
roadway. The water depth may be too great to allow your car to cross
safely.
Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
