Coastal Hazard Message National Weather Service Tallahassee FL 616 PM EDT Sun Jun 23 2024 FLZ108-112-114-115-261000- /O.EXT.KTAE.RP.S.0055.000000T0000Z-240626T1000Z/ South Walton-Coastal Bay-Coastal Gulf-Coastal Franklin- 616 PM EDT Sun Jun 23 2024 /516 PM CDT Sun Jun 23 2024/ ...HIGH RIP CURRENT RISK NOW IN EFFECT THROUGH LATE TUESDAY NIGHT... * WHAT...Numerous and life-threatening rip currents. * WHERE...Walton, Bay, Gulf, and Franklin County Beaches. * WHEN...Through late Tuesday night. * IMPACTS...Rip currents can sweep even the best swimmers away from shore into deeper water. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...While the weather is nice for beachgoers, dangerous rip currents will lurk just below the surface, despite surf of only around 2 feet. Beachgoers should take note of all beach flags and follow the orders of beach safety officials. Double Red Flags mean that the water is closed to the public, due to numerous and life-threatening rip currents, but the beach remains open. Do not enter the water under Double Red Flags. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Swim near a lifeguard. If caught in a rip current, relax and float. Don`t swim against the current. If able, swim in a direction following the shoreline. If unable to escape, face the shore and call or wave for help. && $$

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sunshine, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside. When possible reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or evening.Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing when possible. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments.
