Isolated lightning storms are possible today. Gusty winds to 40 mph, occasional lightning strikes, and brief heavy rain will accompany any stronger storms that develop. .RIP CURRENT AND SURF IMPACT... There is a Moderate Risk of rip currents at area beaches today. Always swim near a lifeguard and never swim alone. .COASTAL FLOOD IMPACT... Minor coastal flooding is expected during today`s late morning high tide cycle. Low lying streets, yards, and docks could become submerged. Water may reach the dune line or seawalls at our most vulnerable beaches. Never drive your vehicle through salt water. .RIVER FLOOD IMPACT... The Saint Johns River near Astor is forecast to remain in Moderate Flood Stage through Tuesday afternoon, before diminishing to Minor Flood Stage Tuesday night into Wednesday, where it will linger through the work week. .DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Monday through Saturday. Isolated lightning storms are forecast through early this week. Brief heavy rain and gusty winds will accompany any stronger storms. A moderate to high risk of dangerous rip currents will continue at the beaches. Flooding along the Saint Johns River, particularly at Astor, will continue through at least this week. There is a high chance for tropical development in the northwest Caribbean this week. It is too early to determine what, if any, impacts this may bring to East Central Florida. However, shower and lightning storm chances look to increase into the weekend. Only isolated road closures are expected. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...High tides today will occur around Noon and around Midnight. There is also a moderate risk of life-threatening rip currents. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Onshore winds and above normal tides will combine to generate flooding of low areas along the shore.
