Scattered showers and thunderstorms will continue in central Georgia into this evening. .DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Thursday through Tuesday... Hot and humid conditions are expected in the region through the upcoming weekend. A Heat Advisory has been issued for the Independence Day holiday. Additional Heat Advisories may be needed on Friday or over the weekend, especially in central Georgia. Heat index values in the 98 to 108 degree range are expected through the weekend. Scattered thunderstorms will continue in the region through Tuesday. Storm activity should be most widespread during the afternoon and evening hours each day. Additional Heat Advisories may be needed. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. To reduce risk during outdoor work, schedule frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments.
