* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is possible.
* WHERE...Portions of northwest Illinois, including the following
counties, Jo Daviess and Stephenson and Iowa, including the
following counties, Benton, Buchanan, Delaware, Dubuque, Jackson,
Jones and Linn.
* WHEN...From midnight CDT tonight through Saturday afternoon.
* IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers,
creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- Thunderstorms will develop in the tropical atmosphere after
midnight and slowly move across the area. The possibility
exists that storms may repeat over the same areas producing
excessive rainfall. Rainfall rates may approach 2 inches per
hour.

Storms north of Highway 30 will have the potential to produce rainfall rates of 1 to 2 inches per hour. A flood watch is in effect for the Highway 20 corridor and from Benton east to Jackson counties. .DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...SATURDAY THROUGH THURSDAY Hot and humid conditions will continue Saturday, especially along and south of Interstate 80 with heat indices of 95 to 100 degrees possible. A cold front will move through the area Saturday afternoon and evening, leading to increasing chances of strong to severe thunderstorms. The main threat will be damaging wind gusts, with large hail and isolated tornadoes as secondary threats. High rainfall rates and slow moving storms could lead to localized flash flooding, especially in urban and poorly drained areas.
