This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for portions of north central
Illinois...northeast Illinois and northwest Indiana.

.DAY ONE...Today and Tonight.

Weather hazards expected...

  Significant Thunderstorm Risk...with an associated:
       Level 2 of 5 Damaging Wind Risk...In excess of 60 mph.
       Level 1 of 5 Damaging Hail Risk...Up to 1 inch in diameter.
       Level 1 of 5 Tornado Risk.
       Level 1 of 5 Flash Flooding Risk.

DISCUSSION...

Showers and thunderstorms will sweep across northern Illinois this
afternoon and evening. The strongest will produce damaging winds
and frequent lightning. In addition, localized flash flooding
cannot be ruled out particularly after sunset.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Monday through Saturday.

Monday through Friday...
  Limited Thunderstorm Risk at times.

DISCUSSION...

Heat indices will largely be in the mid and upper 90s through the
week, but may locally exceed 100 degrees at times.

winds resulting in blowing dust along a line extending from near
St. Charles to near Yorkville to near Marseilles, moving east at
40 mph.

HAZARD...Localized visibility down below one half mile,
particularly in open and rural areas.

...STRONG WEST WINDS HEADING TOWARD GREATER CHICAGO METROPOLITAN AREA...

Strong west winds with gusts as high as 50 mph will move across
the greater Chicago metropolitan area over the next few hours as a
complex of thunderstorms moves across northern Illinois. The
winds may begin well before rain arrives, and continue for greater
than 30 minutes at any given location.

In addition, locally stronger winds in excess of 60 mph may occur
where thunderstorms are strongest of intensify. In these
situations, Severe Thunderstorm Warnings will be issued.

Consider moving indoors until the gusty winds and
thunderstorms pass.

NIGHT...

The Illinois Environmental Protection Agency has issued an Air
Pollution Action Day for Monday June 17th for the greater Chicago
Metropolitan Area through Monday night.

A Chicago area Air Pollution Action Day is declared when weather
conditions are such that widespread ozone and or particulate levels
are expected to be at or above the Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups
category of the Air Quality Index for multiple days.

Active children and adults, especially people with pulmonary or
respiratory disease such as asthma, should limit prolonged outdoor
activity.

Area residents are urged to reduce pollution levels. Air quality
forecasts, current air quality, and tips on how you can reduce your
emissions can be found at www.airnow.gov
