Illinois...northeast Illinois and northwest Indiana.

.DAY ONE...This Afternoon and Tonight.

Weather hazards expected...

  Limited Thunderstorm Risk.
  Limited Flooding Risk.

DISCUSSION...

Locally heavy rainfall may lead to localized, mostly minor,
flooding in the Chicago metro area through the early to mid
afternoon, and near the lake in northwest Indiana later this
afternoon into tonight.

In addition, a chance for isolated thunderstorms will continue
through the early to mid afternoon near the lake, and particularly
into northwest Indiana.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Wednesday through Monday.

Friday and Saturday...
 High Swim Risk Lake Michigan Beaches.

...FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 345 PM CDT THIS
AFTERNOON FOR SOUTH CENTRAL COOK AND NORTHEASTERN WILL COUNTIES...

At 213 PM CDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated
that between 2 and 3.5 inches of rain fell from earlier showers and
thunderstorms.  Flooding impacts will continue, but little
additional rainfall is expected.

HAZARD...Flash flooding.

SOURCE...Radar and automated gauges.

IMPACT...Rapid-onset flooding of creeks, streams, drainage
         ditches, streets, underpasses, low-lying areas, and
         other poor drainage areas.

Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
  Orland Park, Tinley Park, Oak Forest, Homer Glen, Homewood, Alsip,
  Mokena, Country Club Hills, Midlothian, Hazel Crest, Palos
  Heights, Markham, Crestwood, Flossmoor, Frankfort Square and Posen.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Flash Flood Warning means rapid-onset flooding is imminent or may
already be occurring. Persons along creeks, drainage ditches, and
other waterways should take immediate precautions to protect life
and property.

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

...FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 315 PM CDT THIS AFTERNOON...

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.

* WHERE...A portion of northeast Illinois, including the following
  counties, Cook and Will.

* WHEN...Until 315 PM CDT.

* IMPACTS...Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas.
  Underpasses may be flooded. Roads and streets may be flooded.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - At 1214 PM CDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges
    indicated very heavy rainfall occurring. Automated gauges
    indicate that rainfall rates as high as 2 to 3 inches per
    hour are occurring with these showers. This heavy rainfall
    will be moving into the south side of Chicago through 1 PM.
  - Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 4 inches are expected
    over the area. This additional rain will result in minor
    flooding.
  - Some locations that will experience flooding include...
    Chicago, Cicero, Orland Park, Tinley Park, Oak Lawn, Berwyn,
    Oak Park, Calumet City, Midway Airport, Chicago Lawn,
    Roseland, Englewood, South Lawndale, Bridgeport, South Shore,
    Austin, West Town, Chicago Loop, Burbank and Oak Forest.

A Flood Advisory means minor flooding along waterways and other poor
drainage areas is imminent or may already be occurring. Persons in
the advisory area should use caution and avoid flood waters.
