This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for portions of north central
Illinois...northeast Illinois and northwest Indiana.

.DAY ONE...Tonight.

Weather hazards expected...

  Elevated Thunderstorm Risk...with an associated:
     Level 2 to 3 of 5 Damaging Wind Risk...up to 70 mph.
     Level 1 of 5 Large Hail Risk...up to quarter size.
     Level 1 of 5 Tornado Risk.
  Limited Flooding Risk.

DISCUSSION...

A line of thunderstorms capable of producing damaging winds and
locally heavy rainfall is expected to track through at least a
portion of northern Illinois and northwest Indiana late tonight.
The greatest potential for damaging winds will be near the
Illinois-Wisconsin stateline.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Tuesday through Sunday.

  Elevated Thunderstorm Risk...with an associated:
     Level 2 of 5 Severe Thunderstorm Risk.
  Elevated Flooding Risk.
Wednesday morning...

DISCUSSION...

Additional rounds of thunderstorms are possible late Tuesday
afternoon and overnight, but significant uncertainty in storm
development exists. If storms form, they would be severe with a
threat for flash flooding.

  Spotters may be needed late tonight and early Tuesday morning.

...FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 345 AM CDT EARLY THIS
MORNING FOR SOUTHEASTERN DE KALB, SOUTHWESTERN KANE, KENDALL AND
WEST CENTRAL WILL COUNTIES...

At 1248 AM CDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated
thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 1
and 4 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts up to
2 inches are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing
or expected to begin shortly.

HAZARD...Flash flooding.

SOURCE...Radar and automated gauges.

IMPACT...Rapid-onset flooding of creeks, streams, drainage
         ditches, streets, underpasses, low-lying areas, and
         other poor drainage areas.

Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
  Joliet, Plainfield, Oswego, Yorkville, Channahon, Minooka, Plano,
  Sandwich, Crest Hill, Montgomery, Shorewood, Sugar Grove,
  Manhattan, Elwood, Hinckley, Preston Heights, Rockdale, Crystal
  Lawns, Big Rock and Plattville.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Flash Flood Warning means rapid-onset flooding is imminent or may
already be occurring. Persons along creeks, drainage ditches, and
other waterways should take immediate precautions to protect life
and property.

...A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 130 AM CDT
FOR SOUTHEASTERN WILL AND NORTHWESTERN KANKAKEE COUNTIES...

At 1235 AM CDT, a severe thunderstorm was located 7 miles north of
Limestone, or 7 miles northwest of Bourbonnais, moving southeast at
25 mph.

HAZARD...Quarter size hail.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Damage to vehicles is expected.

Locations impacted include...
Kankakee, Bourbonnais, Bradley, Manteno, Peotone, Limestone, Grant
Park, Bonfield, and Irwin.
