A Heat Advisory remains in effect for much of the eastern Tri State area this afternoon. Heat indices up to 106 are expected in the Advisory area. Elsewhere, heat indices will reach 100 to 103. Areas along and east of Highway 25 could see strong to severe thunderstorms this afternoon and evening. Damaging winds will be the main threat. .DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...TUESDAY THROUGH SUNDAY... A Heat Advisory is now in effect for Graham and Norton counties in Kansas for Tuesday afternoon. Heat indices up to 105 are expected in the Advisory area. Elsewhere, heat indices will reach into the low 100s. Areas along and east of Highway 83 could see strong to severe storms during the afternoon and evening hours. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. Do not leave young children and pets in unattended vehicles. Car interiors will reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes. Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments.
