This hazardous weather outlook is for portions of Central Kansas,
South Central Kansas and Southeast Kansas.

.DAY ONE...This Afternoon and Tonight

Heat indices will be around 105 to 110 this afternoon and evening.
Refer to the Heat Advisory for details and safety information.

There is a chance for isolated to widely scattered strong to
marginally severe storms this afternoon through overnight tonight.
Primary concerns will be 50 to 60 mph wind gusts, up to nickel
sized hail, and brief heavy rainfall with any storm that manages to
develop.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Wednesday through Monday

Lingering storms are possible across southeast Kansas early
Wednesday morning.

Periodic chances for thunderstorms are in the forecast late
Wednesday night through Sunday night. Check later forecasts and
outlooks on the potential for severe weather late in the week.

Heat indices between 105 and 111 are possible Friday afternoon
area-wide, then heat indices up to 105 are possible across far
southern Kansas Saturday afternoon.

* WHAT...Heat index values up to 106.

* WHERE...Portions of Central, South Central, and Southeast Kansas.

* WHEN...Until 8 PM CDT this evening.

* IMPACTS...Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat
  illnesses.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of
the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.

To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and
Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in
shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat
should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an
emergency! Call 9 1 1.
