While water levels have begun to recede, some larger rivers will not crest until this weekend. Thunderstorms are possible today into tonight, mainly from east-central Minnesota into northwest Wisconsin. Severe storms are not expected but locally heavy rainfall is possible, mainly from east-central Minnesota into portions of northwest Wisconsin. .DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Saturday through Thursday With water levels still elevated, flooding remains a concern across northeast Minnesota. Further rain and storms on Saturday may cause more hydrological issues across the area heading into the weekend. Additionally, strong to severe storms are possible across northwest Wisconsin on Saturday. There will be a high risk of rip currents Saturday along the beaches in the Twin Ports. A few strong to severe storms are possible Monday late afternoon through late Monday night. .SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT... Skywarn spotters may be needed Saturday and again Monday. This will necessitate increases to outflow from the Island Lake Reservoir. MNC137-230700- /O.NEW.KDLH.FA.W.0006.240621T1938Z-240623T0700Z/ /00000.0.DR.000000T0000Z.000000T0000Z.000000T0000Z.OO/ St. Louis MN- 238 PM CDT Fri Jun 21 2024 ...FLOOD WARNING FOR AN UPSTREAM DAM RELEASE IN EFFECT... * WHAT...Flooding caused by upstream dam release is expected. * WHERE...In Minnesota, southeastern St. Louis County. * WHEN...Until early next week. * IMPACTS...Flooding of the Cloquet river downstream of Island Lake including Hunter and Bowman lakes is imminent or occurring. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 206 PM CDT Friday, An upstream dam release from the Island Lake Reservoir is expected to increase river levels below Island Lake. Anticipated additional increases of outflow from the dam will cause flooding in the warned area. Discharge from the Island Lake Reservoir is higher than normal. The Island Lake Reservoir is NOT in danger of failing. High flows will continue through the next few days. Further increases are expected as inflow to the lake continues to rise. - Dangerous river conditions are expected as incremental increases in outflow drive river levels higher. - Some locations that will experience flooding include...
