...FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 5 PM CDT SUNDAY...

* WHAT...Flooding caused by heavy rainfall that occurred Tuesday
  evening is ongoing.

* WHERE...In Minnesota, west-central and northern Lake County and
  much of central to far northeastern St. Louis County.

* WHEN...Until 500 PM CDT Sunday.

* IMPACTS...Expect many areas of slow moving or standing water.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - At 445 PM CDT Friday, gauges indicated flooding is ongoing
    from heavy rainfall that occurred Tuesday evening. Flooding
    is already occurring in the warned area.
  - Some locations that will experience flooding include...
    Ely, Virginia, Eveleth, Mountain Iron, Hoyt Lakes, Gilbert,
    Aurora, Babbitt, Biwabik, Cherry, Embarrass, Winton, Birch
    Lake, White Iron Lake, Bear Head Lake State Park, Robinson,
    Burntside Lake, Fall Lake, Boundary Waters Canoe Area
    Wilderness Near Trout Lake and Basswood Lake.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Stay away or be swept away. River banks and culverts can become
unstable and unsafe.

Portage and hiking trails may be impassable and low-lying campsites
may be inundated with excessive runoff in this section of the
Boundary Waters as flooding is occurring or imminent.

* WHAT...Flooding caused by heavy rainfall Tuesday evening continues.

* WHERE...In Minnesota, west-central and northern St. Louis County,
  including near and within the city of Cook.

* WHEN...Until 500 PM CDT Sunday.

* IMPACTS...Numerous structures are flooded and flood mitigation
  efforts continue within the city of Cook. Numerous roads remain
  closed across northern and western St. Louis County due to
  flooding.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - At 429 PM CDT Friday, emergency management and National
    Weather Service employees reported flooding continues in the
    warned area due to heavy rainfall that occurred Tuesday
    evening. Flooding is already occurring.
  - While water levels have receded in the city of Cook according
    to emergency management and National Weather Service
    employees, elevated water levels and standing water remain
    expected into this weekend.
  - Some locations that will experience flooding include...
    Lake Vermilion, Mountain Iron, Cook, Tower, Nett Lake, Orr,
    Meadow Brook, Ash Lake, Kabetogama, Crane Lake, Gheen, Buyck,
    Cusson, Pelican Lake, Soudan Underground Mine State Park,
    Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness Near Trout Lake,
    Voyageurs National Park, Kabetogama Lake, McCarthy Beach
    State Park and Rainy Lake East.

This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for portions of northeast
Minnesota and northwest Wisconsin.

.DAY ONE...This afternoon and Tonight

Substantial flooding will continue across the Iron Range,
Borderlands and the Arrowhead of northeast Minnesota. While water
levels have begun to recede, some larger rivers will not crest
until this weekend. Thunderstorms are possible today into
tonight, mainly from east-central Minnesota into northwest
Wisconsin. Severe storms are not expected but locally heavy
rainfall is possible, mainly from east-central Minnesota into
portions of northwest Wisconsin.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Saturday through Thursday

With water levels still elevated, flooding remains a concern
across northeast Minnesota. Further rain and storms on Saturday
may cause more hydrological issues across the area heading into
the weekend. Additionally, strong to severe storms are possible
across northwest Wisconsin on Saturday.

There will be a high risk of rip currents Saturday along the
beaches in the Twin Ports.

A few strong to severe storms are possible Monday late afternoon
through late Monday night.

.SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT...

Skywarn spotters may be needed Saturday and again Monday. Spotters
and the public are encouraged to submit reports of rainfall
amounts and flooding today through the weekend.

.Heavy Rainfall from June 18th of up to 7.5 inches in the headwaters
of the Cloquet River Basin will cause rising levels on Island Lake.
This will necessitate increases to outflow from the Island Lake
Reservoir.

...FLOOD WARNING FOR AN UPSTREAM DAM RELEASE IN EFFECT...

* WHAT...Flooding caused by upstream dam release is expected.

* WHERE...In Minnesota, southeastern St. Louis County.

* WHEN...Until early next week.

* IMPACTS...Flooding of the Cloquet river downstream of Island Lake
  including Hunter and Bowman lakes is imminent or occurring.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - At 206 PM CDT Friday, An upstream dam release from the Island
    Lake Reservoir is expected to increase river levels below
    Island Lake.  Anticipated additional increases of outflow
    from the dam will cause flooding in the warned area.
    Discharge from the Island Lake Reservoir is higher than
    normal. The Island Lake Reservoir is NOT in danger of
    failing. High flows will continue through the next few days.
    Further increases are expected as inflow to the lake
    continues to rise.
  - Dangerous river conditions are expected as incremental
    increases in outflow drive river levels higher.
  - Some locations that will experience flooding include...
    Island Lake, Hunter Lake, Bowman Lake, Fond Du Lac Band
    Brookston Area, and Burnett.
  - Flood safety information can be found at

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.
