Severe weather is not anticipated .DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Wednesday through Monday Severe thunderstorms are possible (Risk level 2 of 5) Wednesday from 3pm-11pm across the region. Initially these storms will be capable of very large hail potentially in excess of 2 inches in diameter. A tornado or two are also possible, especially across northeast Minnesota. After 9pm the risk for damaging winds in excess of 60mph will increase. An active weather pattern is expected to resume starting Saturday and continuing into early next week. There are some signals on Sunday for the possibility of stronger to severe storms .SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT... Skywarn spotters may be needed wednesday afternoon and evening across northeast Minnesota and northwestern Wisconsin. $$

Special Weather Statement National Weather Service Duluth MN 1059 AM CDT Tue Jun 11 2024 MNZ011-012-120400- North St. Louis-Northern Cook and Lake- Including the cities of Ely and Isabella 1059 AM CDT Tue Jun 11 2024 ...SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS MAY AFFECT THE BOUNDARY WATERS CANOE AREA WILDERNESS WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON AND EVENING... Severe thunderstorms may affect the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness late Wednesday afternoon and evening. The storms are expected to produce strong winds, golf ball sized hail, frequent cloud-to-ground lightning, and heavy rainfall. These strong thunderstorms could happen as early as 3 PM Wednesday with the most likely time for thunderstorms between 4 PM and 9 PM Wednesday. Now is the time to prepare in case thunderstorms threaten. Campers should take extra precautions in order to secure campsites and make a plan in case of severe weather. For strong winds, try to keep your tent away from large or decayed trees. For large hail, use your well-tied down canoe or tent for shelter. For lightning, sit on your personal floatation devices or sleeping pads to minimize your risk and avoid putting your tent on top of exposed tree roots.
