This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for portions of northeast
Minnesota and northwest Wisconsin.

.DAY ONE...Tonight

Periods of moderate to heavy rain are ongoing across most of
northeast Minnesota with impacts from flooding being observed.

Isolated strong to severe thunderstorms continue through late this
evening. Primary hazard is a lone tornado or wind gust to 60 mph in
east-central Minnesota.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Wednesday through Monday

Additional rain and thunderstorms are expected late-week into
this weekend. Heavy rain and some flooding issues are possible.

...FLOOD ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 1045 PM CDT THIS EVENING...

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues.

* WHERE...In Minnesota, in east central Minnesota, Aitkin and Pine
  Counties. In northeast Minnesota, Carlton and St. Louis Counties.

* WHEN...Until 1045 PM CDT Tuesday.

* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.
  Water over roadways. Ponding of water in urban or other areas is
  occurring or is imminent.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - At 933 PM CDT Tuesday, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due
    to thunderstorms. Rapid river rises have already caused minor
    flooding in the advisory area. Between 1 and 2.5 inches of
    rain have fallen.
  - Additional rainfall amounts up to 1 inch are expected over
    the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding.
  - Some locations that will experience flooding include...
    Cloquet, Mille Lacs Lake, Hermantown, Sandstone, Moose Lake,
    Carlton, Barnum, Mahtowa, Willow River, Wrenshall, Askov,
    Malmo, Rutledge, Holyoke, Kettle River, Bruno, McGrath, Moose
    Lake State Park, Banning State Park and Nemadji.
  - Flood safety information can be found at

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.

* WHERE...In Minnesota, in east central Minnesota, Aitkin and Crow
  Wing Counties. In north central Minnesota, Cass, Itasca and
  Koochiching Counties. In northeast Minnesota, St. Louis County.

* WHEN...Until 400 PM CDT Wednesday.

* IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying
  and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Numerous roads
  remain closed due to flooding.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - At 900 PM CDT Tuesday, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due
    to thunderstorms. Flooding is ongoing or expected to begin
    shortly in the warned area. Between 2 and 6 inches of rain
    have fallen as of 800 pm CDT Tuesday evening.
  - Additional rainfall amounts up to 1 inch are possible
    tonight.  See the MNDOT 5 1 1 road condition page for the
    latest information at 511mn.org.
  - Some locations that will experience flooding include...
    Hibbing, Grand Rapids, Walker, Lake Vermilion, Virginia,
    Chisholm, Mountain Iron, Cohasset, Breezy Point, Pequot
    Lakes, Crosslake, Coleraine, Keewatin, Buhl, Nashwauk, Pine
    River, Deer River, Cherry, Emily and Hill City.
  - Rises are expected on area rivers and streams through
    Wednesday. This includes the Little Fork River and Vermilion
    Rivers in the Rainy Basin.
  - Flood safety information can be found at

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles. Be especially cautious at night when it is
harder to recognize the dangers of flooding.

Campers and hikers should avoid flooded trail crossings. If camping
at a site along or near the banks of rivers or streams, move away
from those locations and seek higher ground. Trails in hilly terrain
can quickly become unstable during or shortly after heavy rainfall.

Portage and hiking trails may be impassable and low-lying campsites
may be inundated with excessive runoff in this section of the
Boundary Waters as flooding is occurring or imminent.

    over the area. This additional rain will result in minor
    flooding.
  - Some locations that will experience flooding include...
    Cloquet, Big Sandy Lake, Mille Lacs Lake, Aitkin, Swan River,
    Hill City, Floodwood, Cotton, McGregor, Cromwell, Garrison,
    Warba, Toivola, Palisade, Brookston, Meadowlands, Tamarack,
    Libby and Savanna Portage State Park.
