This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for portions of northeast
Minnesota and northwest Wisconsin.

.DAY ONE...This afternoon and Tonight

Scattered strong to severe thunderstorms are expected today.
Primary hazard is damaging wind gusts to 70 mph, large hail to 2
inches in diameter and a few tornadoes. A Severe Thunderstorm
Watch is in effect for most of Minnesota until 8PM. Periods of
moderate to heavy rain are expected today and tonight. Flash
flooding is possible, and a Flash Flood Watch is in effect.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Wednesday through Monday

Additional rain and thunderstorms are expected late-week into
this weekend. Heavy rain and some flooding issues are possible.

Skywarn spotters are encouraged to report hail, wind damage, and
rainfall amounts to the National Weather Service.

* Flash Flood Warning for...
  Cook County in northeastern Minnesota...
  Lake County in northeastern Minnesota...
  Eastern St. Louis County in northeastern Minnesota...

* Until 1215 AM CDT Wednesday.

* At 619 PM CDT Tuesday, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms
  producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 1 and 3
  inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 2 to 3
  inches are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing
  or expected to begin shortly.

  HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.

  SOURCE...Radar.

  IMPACT...High flows and fast moving water are expected on North
           Shore rivers and streams. Flooding of forest roads are
           likely. Flash flooding of small creeks and streams,
           urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well
           as other poor drainage and low-lying areas.

* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
  Grand Marais, Gunflint Lake, Two Harbors, Silver Bay, Grand
  Portage, Clear Lake, Lutsen, Tofte, Beaver Bay, Fairbanks, Wolf
  Lake, George Manitou State Park, Dumbbell Lake, Sugar Loaf Cove,
  Little Marais, Taconite Harbor, Temperance River State Park,
  Finland, Isabella and Illgen City.

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding. Do not camp near rivers or streams as levels
can quickly rise.

  Central St. Louis County in northeastern Minnesota...

* Until 830 PM CDT Tuesday.

* At 600 PM CDT Tuesday, trained weather spotters reported extensive
  flash flooding. Thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the
  warned area. Between 3 and 6 inches of rain have fallen.
  Additional rainfall amounts up to 1 inch are possible in the
  warned area. Flash flooding is already occurring.

  HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms
           producing flash flooding.

  SOURCE...Trained spotters reported.

  IMPACT...Life threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams,
           urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses.

* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
  Lake Vermilion, Cook, Tower, Soudan Underground Mine State Park,
  Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness Near Trout Lake, western
  Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness, Angora, Trout Lake, Bois
  Forte Band Vermillion Lake Area, Soudan, Big Rice Lake, Cummings
  Lake, Shermans Corner, Big Moose Lake, Idington, Lake Agnes, Lac
  la Croix and Crooked Lake.

Numerous roads are under water and washing out near Cook and Lake
Vermilion. Up to a foot of water is over some roads. Gravel roads
may be washed out or gone under water.

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.

Campers and hikers should avoid flooded trail crossings. If camping

from those locations and seek higher ground. Trails in hilly terrain
can quickly become unstable during or shortly after heavy rainfall.

  1 and 5.5 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts
  up to 1 inch are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is
  already occurring.

  HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms
           producing flash flooding.

  SOURCE...Trained spotters reported.

  IMPACT...Life threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams,
           urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses.

* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
  Hibbing, Grand Rapids, Lake Vermilion, Virginia, Chisholm,
  Mountain Iron, Cohasset, Coleraine, Keewatin, Buhl, Nashwauk,
  Cook, Tower, Taconite, Orr, Meadow Brook, Warba, Zemple, Crane
  Lake and Gheen.

Numerous roads, including county and state highways, are under water
in places. Extensive flooding may continue to worsen before
improving. Roads may be washed out or gone under flood waters.
