Water levels have begun to recede, some larger rivers will not crest for another day. In addition there is a chance (30-40%) for thunderstorms across the borderlands and a slightly higher (40-50%) chance for thunderstorms over the Arrowhead of northeast Minnesota for this evening as a disturbance clips the area. However, severe weather is not expected at this time. .DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Wednesday through Monday Since water levels across the area are still elevated, flooding will continue to be a concern across northeast Minnesota and northwest Wisconsin due to the already saturated soils and recent heavy rainfall across the area. Thunderstorms will be possible (50-80% chance) Thursday evening and Friday (80-90% chance) for the entire Northland. Additionally there is a chance (20-30%) for thunderstorms early saturday morning mainly across the Arrowhead of northeast Minnesota, however the chances for severe weather are low at this time. Additional chances for thunderstorms (60-80% chance) arise both Monday and Tuesday of next week for the entire forecast area. There are signals for the possibility that these storms could be severe though its still too early for specifics. Additionally, these storms could be capable of very heavy rainfall on already saturated soils. of the Cloquet River Basin is moving through Island Lake. High
outflow from the Island Lake Reservoir is expected to continue into
mid-week.

...FLOOD WARNING FOR AN UPSTREAM DAM RELEASE REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL
4 PM CDT WEDNESDAY...
* WHAT...Flooding caused by upstream dam release continues.
* WHERE...In Minnesota, southeastern St. Louis County.
* WHEN...Until 400 PM CDT Wednesday.
* IMPACTS...Flooding of the Cloquet river downstream of Island Lake
including Hunter and Bowman lakes is occurring. Downstream homes
and secondary roads are impacted. Extensive downstream flooding
is possible along the Cloquet River.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 1238 PM CDT Monday, High flows from Island Lake Reservoir
continue causing flooding downstream. The Island Lake
Reservoir is NOT in danger of failing. High flows will
continue through Wednesday. There is potential for heavy
rainfall Monday night which may increase the duration of high
water in the warned area.
- Dangerous river conditions are expected.
- Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Island Lake, Hunter Lake, Bowman Lake, Fond Du Lac Band
Brookston Area, and Burnett. Flooding of roads near the
Cloquet River is possible in Grand Lake, Saginaw, Twig and
Taft.
- Flood safety information can be found at

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.
Report observed flooding to local emergency services or law
enforcement and to the National Weather Service in Duluth when you
can do so safely. Flooding can be reported to the National Weather
Service at 1-800-685-8612.
