This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for portions of northeast
Minnesota and northwest Wisconsin.

.DAY ONE...Today and Tonight

Substantial flooding will continue across much of Northeast
Minnesota. Whilst smaller stream water levels have started to
recede, larger rivers are still seeing water levels increase and
will continue into tonight.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Friday through Wednesday

With water levels still elevated, flooding remains a concern
across northeast Minnesota. Further rain and storms beginning on
Friday and continuing into Saturday may cause more hydrological
issues across the area heading into the weekend. Furthermore, Strong
to Severe storms are possible on Saturday.

...FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 4 PM CDT THIS AFTERNOON...

* WHAT...Flooding caused by heavy rainfall Tuesday evening continues.

* WHERE...In Minnesota, west-central and northern St. Louis County.

* WHEN...Until 400 PM CDT Thursday.

* IMPACTS...Numerous structures are flooded and flood mitigation
  efforts continue within the city of Cook. Numerous roads remain
  closed across northern and western St. Louis County due to
  flooding.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - At 854 AM CDT Thursday, gauge reports indicated flooding is
    ongoing, especially within the city of Cook and around the
    greater area, due to heavy rainfall that occurred Tuesday
    evening.
  - Additional rainfall is possible in the warned area Friday
    afternoon through Saturday evening, which may aggravate the
    ongoing flooding problems. There is a 50 percent chance of
    one half inch of rainfall and a 30 percent chance of one inch
    of rainfall in this time period.
  - Some locations that will experience flooding include...
    Lake Vermilion, Mountain Iron, Cook, Tower, Nett Lake, Orr,
    Meadow Brook, Ash Lake, Kabetogama, Crane Lake, Gheen, Buyck,
    Cusson, Pelican Lake, Soudan Underground Mine State Park,
    Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness Near Trout Lake,
    Voyageurs National Park, Kabetogama Lake, McCarthy Beach
    State Park and Rainy Lake East.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Stay away or be swept away. River banks and culverts can become
unstable and unsafe.

Portage and hiking trails may be impassable and low-lying campsites
may be inundated with excessive runoff in this section of the
Boundary Waters as flooding is occurring or imminent.

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall that occurred Tuesday
  evening continues.

* WHERE...In Minnesota, southwestern Lake and southeastern St. Louis
  Counties.

* WHEN...Until 400 PM CDT Thursday.

* IMPACTS...Flooding of larger rivers and other low-lying and
  flood-prone locations is occurring. Smaller creeks and streams
  continue to remain elevated though and are expected to through
  today.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - At 810 AM CDT Thursday, gauge reports indicated flooding is
    ongoing of rivers as smaller streams and creeks are expected
    to have crested by this morning and are now draining into the
    larger mainstem rivers.
  - Some locations that will experience flooding include...
    Fairbanks, Wolf Lake, Brimson, Whiteface Reservoir, Thomas
    Lake Near Brimson, Boulder Lake, Island Lake, Whyte, Bassett
    Lake, Pequaywan Lake, Wales, Markham, Comstock Lake and
    Greenwood Lake.

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues.

* WHERE...In Minnesota, west-central and northern Lake County and
  much of central to far northeastern St. Louis County.

* WHEN...Until 400 PM CDT Thursday.

* IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying
  and flood-prone locations is occurring. Numerous roads remain
  closed due to flooding. Previously passable roads may now be
  flooded as rivers continue to rise and will crest in the next 12
  to 24 hours.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - At 201 PM CDT Wednesday, Doppler radar, observers and law
    enforcement indicated heavy rain and flooding due to
    thunderstorms on Tuesday. Flooding is already occurring in
    the warned area. Between 3 and 5 inches of rain have fallen.
  - Additional rainfall is possible in the warned area Thursday
    through this upcoming weekend, which may aggravate the
    ongoing flooding problems.
  - Some locations that will experience flooding include...
    Ely, Virginia, Eveleth, Mountain Iron, Hoyt Lakes, Gilbert,
    Aurora, Babbitt, Biwabik, Cherry, Embarrass, Winton, Birch
    Lake, White Iron Lake, Bear Head Lake State Park, Robinson,
    Burntside Lake, Fall Lake, Boundary Waters Canoe Area
    Wilderness Near Trout Lake and Basswood Lake.
  - Rises are expected on area rivers and streams through
    Thursday. This includes the Kawishiwi and South Kawishiwi
    rivers.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.

Campers and hikers should avoid flooded trail crossings. If camping
at a site along or near the banks of rivers or streams, move away
from those locations and seek higher ground. Trails in hilly terrain
can quickly become unstable after heavy rainfall.
