This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for portions of central and
southern Minnesota, and west central Wisconsin.

.DAY ONE...Today and Tonight.

There is a moderate risk (level 3 of 4) of excessive rainfall and
flash flooding through tonight across southern Minnesota into
western Wisconsin. After early morning rainfall, additional bouts
of thunderstorms with heavy rain are expected this afternoon
through tonight in many of the same areas that saw rain in the
morning.

There is Slight Risk of severe storms (level 2 of 5) across
southern Minnesota and southern portions of west central
Wisconsin. A warm front is expected to setup a little north of the
I-90 corridor, with numerous thunderstorms developing along and
north of it this afternoon through tonight. The primary hazards
are damaging wind gusts and the potential for a couple of
tornadoes.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Saturday through Thursday.

Thunderstorms with heavy rain will be possible through Saturday
morning.

River levels will continue rising through late next week with
some locations reaching moderate or major flood stage. Additional
rain could worsen the flooding.

.SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT...

SKYWARN spotter activation may be needed for severe weather.
Rainfall reports will also be appreciated.

...The Flood Warning is extended for the following rivers in
Minnesota...

  Redwood River near Redwood Falls affecting Redwood County.

.With rainfall coming in lower than expected the forecast has been
adjusted. Additional rain will have additional rises, just not as
high as previously forecast.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Caution is urged when walking near riverbanks.

Motorists should not attempt to drive around barricades or drive
cars through flooded areas.

* IMPACTS...At 8.5 feet, Swayback bridge in Redwood Falls overtopped.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - At 700 AM CDT Friday, the stage was 5.4 feet.
  - Forecast...The river is expected to rise above flood stage
    this afternoon and continue rising to a crest of 9.0 feet
    Monday morning.
  - Flood stage is 6.0 feet.
  - Flood History...This crest compares to a previous crest of
    9.0 feet on 03/04/1983.

.Another round of heavy rainfall is expected tonight through early
Saturday across portions of southern and central Minnesota and
western Wisconsin. Rainfall totals of 2 to 4 inches are expected by
Saturday afternoon with locally higher amounts of 5+ inches possible
across south central Minnesota. Rainfall rates may exceed 1"/hour at
times.

* WHAT...Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be
  possible.

* WHERE...Portions of central, south central, southwest, and west
  central Minnesota, including the following counties, in central
  Minnesota, Renville. In south central Minnesota, Brown, Martin and
  Watonwan. In southwest Minnesota, Redwood. In west central
  Minnesota, Yellow Medicine.

* WHEN...Through Saturday morning.

* IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers,
  creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - Saturated soils combined with another couple rounds of very
    heavy rain could result in flash flooding.

.Heavy, widespread rainfall over the last several days has already
caused substantial rises in area rivers. With more heavy rainfall
expected through the end of this week, river levels are forecast to
increase even more in the coming days. From tonight through Sunday,
much of southern Minnesota and west-central Wisconsin will see at
least 2 inches of rain. A corridor of higher rainfall amounts (3 to
4 inches) is expected, particularly over southern Minnesota, and a
few localized areas within this corridor could even see amounts over
5 inches.

  This approaches the flood of record.

* WHERE...Minnesota River at Morton.

* WHEN...Until further notice.

* IMPACTS...At 26.0 feet, Numerous roads flooded and impassable
  between the Minnesota River and Redwood Falls.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - At 900 PM CDT Thursday, the stage was 22.5 feet.
  - Recent Activity...The maximum river stage in the 24 hours
    ending at 900 PM CDT Thursday was 22.6 feet.
  - Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 27.5
    feet early Wednesday morning.
  - Flood stage is 21.0 feet.
  - Flood History...This crest compares to a previous crest of
    27.5 feet on 06/21/2014.
