Flooding surrounding area creeks and rivers will continue. Strong to severe storms are possible this afternoon and evening, mainly along and west of the James River. Main threats are ping pong ball sized hail and wind gusts to 70 mph. Locally heavy rain and a tornado or two are possible. Widespread heavy rain is not expected. .DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Friday through Wednesday. Flooding continues on many area rivers through the end of the week. Strong to severe storms are possible Friday afternoon and evening, mainly east of I-29. Some uncertainty remains in Friday`s severe threat, but all modes of severe weather are possible as well as locally heavy rain. Widespread heavy rainfall is not expected. Active pattern early next week could lead to additional heavy rain and/or severe weather threat; however, confidence is very low at this time. .SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT... * WHAT...Major flooding is occurring and major flooding is forecast.
* WHERE...West Fork Des Moines River near Avoca.
* WHEN...Until further notice.
* IMPACTS...At 1429.0 feet, The bridge at the gage location on
County Rd 6 is overtopped and the lowest portions of 290th Ave and
also 61st St begin to flood.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 8:30 PM CDT Wednesday the stage was 1428.7 feet.
- Recent Activity...The maximum river stage in the 24 hours
ending at 8:30 PM CDT Wednesday was 1429.0 feet.
- Forecast...The river is expected to fall to 1426.3 feet
