This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for portions of eastern and
central Missouri as well as west central and southwest Illinois.

.DAY ONE...Today and tonight.

Hot and humid conditions are expected to lead to heat index values
in excess of 105 degrees in portions of central Missouri today.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Tuesday through Sunday.

Hot and humid conditions will expand across east central and
southeast Missouri into southwest Illinois on Tuesday. This will
produce heat index values in excess of 105 degrees.

Thunderstorms are expected Tuesday night into early Wednesday along
a cold front. Some of these storms may be strong to severe with the
main threat being damaging winds.

There is a chance for additional thunderstorms across parts of the
area Thursday night through Sunday.

...HEAT ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM NOON TO 8 PM CDT TUESDAY...

* WHAT...Heat index values in excess of 105 degrees expected.

* WHERE...Portions of south central and southwest Illinois and
  central, east central, and southeast Missouri.

* WHEN...From noon to 8 PM CDT Tuesday.

* IMPACTS...Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat
  illnesses.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of
the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Young children and
pets should never be left unattended in vehicles under any
circumstances. Take extra precautions if you work or spend time
outside. When possible reschedule strenuous activities to early
morning or evening. Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion
and heat stroke. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing when
possible. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational
Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest
breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by
heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is
an emergency! Call 9 1 1.
