Hot and humid conditions will produce heat index values of 105 and higher across parts of central and eastern Missouri as well as southwest Illinois. Please see the Heat Advisory product for details. Thunderstorms are expected tonight. Some of these storms may be severe. The main threat will be damaging winds. A few may also produce hail around 1 inch in diameter across parts of northeast Missouri into west central Illinois. .DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Wednesday through Monday. Thunderstorms are likely again on Wednesday. A few strong to severe storms are possible across parts of southeast Missouri into southwest Illinois. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Young children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles under any circumstances. Take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside. When possible reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing when possible. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments.
