This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for portions of eastern and
central Missouri as well as west central and southwest Illinois.

.DAY ONE...Today and tonight.

Hot and humid conditions will produce heat index values of 105 and
higher across parts of central and eastern Missouri as well as
southwest Illinois. Please see the Heat Advisory product for details.

Thunderstorms are expected tonight.  Some of these storms may be
severe. The main threat will be damaging winds. A few may also
produce hail around 1 inch in diameter across parts of northeast
Missouri into west central Illinois.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Wednesday through Monday.

Thunderstorms are likely again on Wednesday. A few strong to severe
storms are possible across parts of southeast Missouri into southwest
Illinois. Damaging winds will be the primary threat from these
storms.

There is a chance for additional thunderstorms across parts of the
area Thursday night through Monday.

...HEAT ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM NOON TODAY TO 8 PM CDT THIS
EVENING...

* WHAT...Heat index values in excess of 105 degrees expected.

* WHERE...Portions of south central and southwest Illinois and
  central, east central, and southeast Missouri.

* WHEN...From noon today to 8 PM CDT this evening.

* IMPACTS...Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat
  illnesses.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of
the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Young children and
pets should never be left unattended in vehicles under any
circumstances. Take extra precautions if you work or spend time
outside. When possible reschedule strenuous activities to early
morning or evening. Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion
and heat stroke. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing when
possible. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational
Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest
breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by
heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is
an emergency! Call 9 1 1.
