.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Monday through Saturday.

An extended period of dangerously hot weather will continue through
much of the upcoming week. High temperatures are expected to reach
the mid 90s to near 100 each day, with heat index values as high as
100 to 109. These unusually hot conditions for this time of year
will increase the risk of heat related illnesses, especially for
those without access to air conditioning. Avoid outdoor activities
during the warmest parts of the day.

* WHAT...Heat index values up to 106 for eastern portions of central
  North Carolina.

* WHERE...Eastern portions of central North Carolina.

* WHEN...Until 8 PM EDT this evening.

* IMPACTS...Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat
  illnesses.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Being in direct sunshine will make it feel
  much hotter.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of
the sun, and check on relatives and neighbors.

To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and
Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in
shaded or air-conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat
should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an
emergency! Call 9 1 1.
