In addition, scattered thunderstorms Thursday afternoon and evening may become strong to locally severe, with a primary risk of damaging wind gusts. Dangerously hot weather will continue Friday through Sunday, with widespread shade air temperatures rising well into the 90s each afternoon, while heat index values will peak at or over 100 degrees, highest this weekend. These unusually hot conditions for this time of year will increase the risk of heat-related illnesses, especially for those without access to air conditioning.
