This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for central North Carolina.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Thursday through Tuesday.

Dangerously hot weather will continue through this weekend, with
continued well above normal temperatures for this time of year. Shade
air temperatures will rise well into the 90s each afternoon, while
heat index values will peak in the 103 to 108 range, highest this
weekend. These unusually hot conditions for this time of year will
increase the risk of heat-related illnesses, especially for those
without access to air conditioning. Avoid outdoor activities during
the warmest parts of the day.

EVENING...

* WHAT...Heat index values of 103 to 106 expected.

* WHERE...The Sandhills and a portion of the Coastal Plain and
  Piedmont in central North Carolina.

* WHEN...From 11 AM this morning to 8 PM EDT this evening.

* IMPACTS...Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause
  heat-related illnesses.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...High temperatures in the shade are expected
  to reach the upper 90s to around 100 this afternoon, with heat
  index values several degrees higher.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of
the sun, and check on relatives and neighbors.

To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and
Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in
shaded or air-conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat
should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an
emergency! Call 9 1 1.
