In addition, scattered thunderstorms Thursday afternoon and evening
may become strong to locally severe, with a primary risk of damaging
wind gusts.

Dangerously hot weather will continue Friday through Sunday, with
widespread shade air temperatures rising well into the 90s each
afternoon, while heat index values will peak at or over 100 degrees,
highest this weekend. These unusually hot conditions for this time of
year will increase the risk of heat-related illnesses, especially
for those without access to air conditioning. Avoid outdoor
activities during the warmest parts of the day.

* WHAT...For the first Heat Advisory, heat index values up to 105.
  For the second Heat Advisory on Thursday, heat index values will
  be between 102 and 108.

* WHERE...Cumberland, Harnett, Hoke, Johnston, Sampson, Scotland,
  Wake, and Wayne Counties.

* WHEN...For the first Heat Advisory, until 8 PM EDT this evening.
  For the second Heat Advisory, from 11 AM to 5 PM EDT Thursday.

* IMPACTS...Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat
  illnesses.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of
the sun, and check on relatives and neighbors.

Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose
fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning
or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion or
heat stroke.
