This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for eastern North Carolina.

.DAY ONE...Today and tonight.

   Heat Advisory.

Scattered shower and thunderstorm activity is forecast to develop out
ahead of an approaching cold front this afternoon and evening with a
few of these storms potentially becoming severe in nature. Damaging
winds, hail, and torrential downpours will be the primary concern
within the strongest storms.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Friday through Wednesday.

The combination of heat and humidity will produce heat index values
between 100 and 105 degrees again Friday through Sunday. Anyone
spending time outdoors should take precaution to mitigate heat
related illnesses.

* WHAT...Heat index values up to 106 expected.

* WHERE...A portion of eastern North Carolina.

* WHEN...From 11 AM this morning to 5 PM EDT this afternoon.

* IMPACTS...Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat
  illnesses.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of
the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.

To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and
Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in
shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat
should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an
emergency! Call 9 1 1.
