A few weak thunderstorms are possible during the day today, but most will remain dry. A better chance for thunderstorms, including strong to severe storms, will arrive in areas west of the Tri- Cities around 7pm to 10pm. Ping pong ball size hail and damaging wind gusts around 60 MPH are the primary concerns. Activity is forecast to weaken with time and eastern extent late this evening. Hot and steamy conditions are forecast for areas along, and especially south, of the state line this afternoon. Here, heat index values should climb into the low 100s amidst relatively light winds. .DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Saturday through Thursday. There are additional periodic thunderstorm chances across at least parts of the outlook area Saturday night through Independence Day, although at least the daytime hours this weekend look to be mostly dry. There is a Slight Risk for some storms on Monday to be severe. After a relatively cool weekend, hot and steamy conditions return early next week.
