The National Weather Service in Albuquerque has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for...
  North Central Sandoval County in north central New Mexico...

* Until midnight MDT tonight.

* At 906 PM MDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing
  heavy rain across the warned area. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain
  have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are
  possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected
  to begin shortly.

  HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.

  SOURCE...Radar indicated.

  IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban
           areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as
           other poor drainage and low-lying areas.

* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
  Mainly rural areas of North Central Sandoval County.

This includes Highway 550 between Mile Markers 77 and 87.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.

* WHAT...East and southeast winds 20 to 35 mph with gusts up to 50
  mph expected.

* WHERE...Middle Rio Grande Valley including the Albuquerque Metro
  Area.

* WHEN...Until 11 PM MDT this evening.

* IMPACTS...Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects. Tree
  limbs may be blown down. Expect strong crosswinds on area roadways.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Winds this strong can make driving difficult, especially for high
profile vehicles. Use extra caution.

  Northwestern Los Alamos County in north central New Mexico...
  East Central Sandoval County in north central New Mexico...

* Until midnight MDT tonight.

* At 805 PM MDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing
  heavy rain across the warned area. Between 0.75 and 1.5 inches of
  rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 0.75 to 2 inches
  are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or
  expected to begin shortly.

  HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms
           producing flash flooding.

  SOURCE...Radar indicated.

  IMPACT...Life threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams,
           urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses.

* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
  Santa Clara Canyon and Santa Clara Pueblo.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.

Do not camp along streams and rivers. Remain alert when hiking in
steep, narrow canyons. Know where you are relative to low spots and
drainages.
