...HEAT ADVISORY NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL 8 PM EDT SUNDAY...

This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for central New York and
northeast Pennsylvania.

.DAY ONE...This afternoon and tonight.

Scattered thunderstorms are expected this afternoon and evening. A
few storms may produce damaging wind gusts and torrential downpours
which could lead to localized flooding.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Saturday through Thursday.

More thunderstorms are expected Saturday and Sunday afternoon. Some
of the storms could become severe with damaging winds the main
threat.

...HEAT ADVISORY NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL 8 PM EDT THIS EVENING...

* WHAT...Heat index values up to 98.

* WHERE...Schuyler, Steuben, and Tompkins Counties.

* WHEN...Until 8 PM EDT this evening.

* IMPACTS...Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat
  illnesses.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...The Heat Advisory period has been shortened
  to remove Sunday, as an approaching cold front will bring some
  relief to the area.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of
the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.

Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose
fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning
or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and
heat stroke.
