...EXCESSIVE HEAT WARNING IN EFFECT FROM NOON TO 9 PM CDT SATURDAY...

* WHAT...Heat index values of 110 to 115 are expected to develop
  this afternoon and again Saturday afternoon.

* WHERE...Muskogee, Okfuskee, Craig, Creek, Mayes, Nowata, Okmulgee,
  Osage, Pawnee, Rogers, Tulsa, Wagoner, Washington OK, McIntosh,
  and Pittsburg Counties.

* WHEN...Excessive Heat Warning until 9 PM CDT this evening and
  again from noon to 9 PM CDT Saturday.

* IMPACTS...The combination of hot temperatures and high humidity
  will create a dangerous situation in which heat related illnesses
  are more likely.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose
fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning
or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and
heat stroke.

Do not leave young children and pets in unattended vehicles. Car
interiors will reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes.

To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and
Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in
shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat
should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an
emergency! Call 9 1 1.

much of Eastern Oklahoma.

THUNDERSTORMS WITH DANGEROUS LIGHTNING.

AREA...Near the Oklahoma-Kansas border.
ONSET...Late tonight.

DANGEROUS HEAT.
RISK...Significant.
AREA...Eastern Oklahoma and West Central Arkansas.
ONSET...Ongoing.

 AREA AT GREATEST RISK...Along and west of Highway 69 in Oklahoma.

DISCUSSION...
Dangerously hot and humid conditions will continue today across
much of Eastern Oklahoma and west central Arkansas. The hottest
conditions will impact locations along and west of Highway 69 in
Oklahoma, where heat index values of 110 to 114 are expected.

A slight chance of thunderstorms will be possible late tonight
into early Saturday morning along the Oklahoma and Kansas border
as a weak cold front approaches from the north.

EXTENDED DISCUSSION...
Dangerously hot and humid conditions will continue on Saturday
ahead of a frontal boundary forecast to sag southward into the
region Saturday afternoon. Also Saturday afternoon, thunderstorm
chances return mainly north of Interstate 40 with the frontal
boundary moving into the region. A few storms could produce
damaging downburst winds during the late afternoon through
evening. Storm chances expand across eastern Oklahoma and
northwest Arkansas Sunday as the boundary moves southward through
the region.

For the first half of next week, hot and humid conditions will
quickly return with thunderstorm chances increasing again just in
time for the Independence Day holiday.
