northeast Pennsylvania.

Scattered thunderstorms are expected this evening. A few storms may
produce damaging wind gusts and torrential downpours which could lead
to localized flooding.

* Severe Thunderstorm Warning for...
  Southeastern Lackawanna County in northeastern Pennsylvania...
  Southern Wayne County in northeastern Pennsylvania...
  Northwestern Pike County in northeastern Pennsylvania...

* Until 1045 PM EDT.

* At 957 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm was located over Elmhurst, or
  near Scranton, moving east at 30 mph.

  HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts and penny size hail.

  SOURCE...Radar indicated.

  IMPACT...Expect damage to roofs, siding, and trees.

* Locations impacted include...
  Scranton, Dunmore, Archbald, Blakely, Dickson City, Olyphant,
  Lackawaxen, Blooming Grove, Jessup, and Honesdale.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a
building.

Large hail, damaging wind, and continuous cloud to ground lightning
are occurring with this storm. Move indoors immediately. Lightning is
one of nature`s leading killers. Remember, if you can hear thunder,
you are close enough to be struck by lightning.

Heavy rainfall is occurring with this storm, and may lead to flash
flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.

  illnesses.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of
the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.

Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose
fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning
or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and
heat stroke.
