This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for central South Dakota and
northeast South Dakota.

.DAY ONE...Today and tonight.

With wet conditions and the potential for additional heavy rain
producing thunderstorms through the day, the flash flood watch
remains in effect.

There is a risk for an isolated strong to severe thunderstorm this
afternoon and evening, though confidence remains low with respect to
timing and coverage. Hail to 1 inch and wind gusts of 60mph are the
main threats.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Saturday through Thursday.

No hazardous weather is expected at this time.

...FLOOD WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 AM CDT SATURDAY...

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be
  possible.

* WHERE...A portion of central South Dakota, including the following
  counties, Buffalo, Hand and Lyman.

* WHEN...Until 7 AM CDT Saturday.

* IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers,
  creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.
  Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - Additional rainfall, possibly locally heavy at times, is
    possible in the affected counties later tonight.

You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible Flood
Warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared

...FLOOD WARNING IN EFFECT UNTIL 9 AM CDT SATURDAY...

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is occurring.

* WHERE...A portion of central South Dakota, including the following
  county, Hand.

* WHEN...Until 900 AM CDT Saturday.

* IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying
  and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Streams
  continue to rise due to excess runoff from earlier rainfall.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - At 952 PM CDT, emergency management reported flooding streams
    and creeks over the southern and central portions of Hand
    County are beginning to push water downstream over northern
    Hand County. Flooding is already occurring and is expected to
    expand further north and east in the county.
  - Some locations that will experience flooding include...
    Zell, Orient, Burdette and Polo.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.

enforcement and request they pass this information to the National
Weather Service when you can do so safely.

* WHERE...A portion of central South Dakota, including the following
  counties, Buffalo and Hand.

* WHEN...Until 900 AM CDT Saturday.

* IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying
  and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Numerous roads
  remain closed due to flooding. Streams continue to rise due to
  excess runoff from earlier rainfall.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - At 833 AM CDT, Emergency management reports flooding
    continues in the warned area. Between 1.5 and 3 inches of
    rain have fallen.
  - Additional rainfall is possible overnight across the warned
    area.
  - Some locations that will experience flooding include...
    Miller, Fort Thompson, St. Lawrence, Miller Dale Colony,
    Shelby, Ree Heights, Gann Valley, Pleasant Valley Country
    Church, Sunshine Bible Academy, Danforth, Etbauer Hill,
    Rosehill Dam, Lees Corner, Vayland, Crow Creek Housing, Lake
    Francis Case, Lake Sharpe, southeastern Crow Creek
    Reservation and southeastern Lower Brule Reservation.
