...HEAT ADVISORY NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL 8 PM CDT THURSDAY...

* WHAT...Heat index values up to 110.

* WHERE...Portions of North and Central Texas

* WHEN...Until 8 PM CDT Thursday.

* IMPACTS...Hot temperatures and high humidity will increase the
  risk for heat-related illnesses to occur, particularly for those
  working or participating in outdoor activities.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of
the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Young children and
pets should never be left unattended in vehicles under any
circumstances. Do not leave young children and pets in unattended
vehicles.

Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose
fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning
or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and
heat stroke. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational
Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest
breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by
heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is
an emergency! Call 9 1 1.

This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for North and Central Texas.

.DAY ONE...Today and Tonight.
Dangerous heat will continue this afternoon with heat index values
between 105 and 110 across portions of North and Central Texas.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Thursday through Tuesday.
Oppressive heat expected again across most of the region Thursday
afternoon, with peak heat index values reaching 105 to 110.

Storm chances will return Thursday night and continue into early next
week.
