Hot and humid weather will continue to produce dangerous heat index values between 105 and 110 this afternoon. Thunderstorms will impact portions of East Texas this afternoon. The strongest storms could produce strong downburst winds. Additional storms may affect parts of North and East Texas this evening and into the overnight hours. Severe weather is not anticipated. .DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Thursday through Tuesday. Oppressive heat with heat index values between 105 to 110 will persist into next week. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Young children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles under any circumstances. Do not leave young children and pets in unattended vehicles. Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments.
