This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for portions of eastern West
Virginia, northern and central Virginia, and central and western
Maryland.

.DAY ONE...This Afternoon and Tonight

A Heat Advisory is in effect for portions of western Maryland, the
eastern West Virginia panhandle, and northern Shenandoah Valley
until 8 PM this evening.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Wednesday through Monday

A prolonged period of hot temperatures is expected this week,
with increasing humidity through the week. The combination of heat
and humidity could result in heat indices above 100 degrees
Friday afternoon through at least Sunday afternoon.

Spotter activation is not expected at this time.

* WHAT...Heat index values around 100.

* WHERE...In Virginia, Clarke, Frederick VA, Page, Shenandoah, and
  Warren Counties. In West Virginia, Eastern Grant, Hampshire, and
  Hardy Counties.

* WHEN...Until 8 PM EDT this evening.

* IMPACTS...Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat
  illnesses.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of
the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.

Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose
fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning
or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and
heat stroke.
