This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for north central North Carolina,
northwest North Carolina, central Virginia, south central Virginia,
southwest Virginia, west central Virginia and southeast West
Virginia.

.DAY ONE...Tonight.

There is a marginal risk of severe thunderstorms this afternoon and
tonight. The primary risk is damaging wind and hail, with a secondary
risk of an isolated tornado.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Thursday through Tuesday.

Heavy rain associated with Hurricane Helene could result in areas of
flooding on Thursday through Friday.

* Flash Flood Warning for...
  Central Bland County in southwestern Virginia...
  Northeastern Tazewell County in southwestern Virginia...
  Northwestern Wythe County in southwestern Virginia...
  Western Mercer County in southeastern West Virginia...

* Until 215 AM EDT.

* At 815 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing
  heavy rain across the warned area. Between 1.5 and 2.5 inches of
  rain have fallen. The expected rainfall rate is 1 to 2 inches in 1
  hour. Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are possible in
  the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin
  shortly.

  HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.

  SOURCE...Radar.

  IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban
           areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as
           other poor drainage and low-lying areas.
