...HEAT ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 PM CDT THIS EVENING...

This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for north central Alabama,
northwest Alabama and southern middle Tennessee.

.DAY ONE...Today and tonight.

Please listen to NOAA Weather Radio or go to weather.gov on the
Internet for more information about the following hazards.

   Heat Advisory.

Dangerously hot and humid weather conditions will be in place across
much of the area later today. Maximum heat indices are expected to
be near 105 to 107.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Friday through Wednesday.

Hot and humid conditions will again be in place Friday. Maximum heat
indices are expected to be in the 107 to 109 range.

Thunderstorm chances will also gradually return late Friday, as a
weak front settles into the outlook area. Multiple rounds of storms
are possible into the new work week. A few strong to marginally
severe thunderstorms capable of brief damaging wind gusts are also
possible later in the day Sunday.

.SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT...

Activation of storm spotters and emergency management personnel is
not anticipated at this time.

...HEAT ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 10 AM THIS MORNING TO
7 PM CDT THIS EVENING...

* WHAT...Heat index values up to 107 expected.

* WHERE...Lauderdale, Colbert, Franklin AL, Lawrence, Limestone,
  Madison, Morgan and Cullman Counties.

* WHEN...From 10 AM to 7 PM CDT today.

* IMPACTS...Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat
  illnesses to occur.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out
of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Young
children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles
under any circumstances.

Take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside. When
possible reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or
evening. Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat
stroke. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing when
possible. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational
Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent
rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone
overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location.
