This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for the counties served by the
National Weather Service office in Birmingham.

.DAY ONE...Outlook through Tonight.

There is a low to medium chance for snow and ice accumulations across
the far northern portions of Central Alabama tonight through early
Wednesday morning. Impacts will be limited, but slippery roads may be
an issue Wednesday morning, especially for the I-22 and Hwy 278
corridors.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Wednesday through Monday.

Cold conditions are expected Wednesday and Thursday nights with low
temperatures of 15 to 20 degrees and wind chill values as low as the
single digits, especially near and north of Interstate 20.

.SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT...

Activation of storm spotters and emergency management is not expected
at this time.

...COLD WEATHER ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM MIDNIGHT WEDNESDAY NIGHT TO
NOON CST THURSDAY...

* WHAT...Very cold wind chills as low as 5 degrees expected for
  locations across North-Central Alabama. Wind Chills as low as 15
  degrees expected for locations across South-Central Alabama

* WHERE...A portion of central Alabama.

* WHEN...From midnight Wednesday Night to noon CST Thursday.

* IMPACTS...Frostbite and hypothermia will occur if unprotected skin
  is exposed to these temperatures. An extended period of
  subfreezing temperatures could cause pipes to burst.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Use caution while traveling outside. Wear appropriate clothing, a
hat, and gloves.

Keep pets indoors as much as possible.

Make frequent checks on older family, friends, and neighbors. Ensure
portable heaters are used correctly. Do not use generators or grills
inside.

To prevent freezing and possible bursting of pipes they should be
wrapped, drained, or allowed to drip slowly.
