...WINTER STORM WARNING NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL 5 AM PDT THURSDAY...

* WHAT...Heavy snow. Additional snow accumulations of 1 to 2 feet
  from 5500-6500 ft, 2 to 3 feet above 6500 feet. Winds gusting
  as high as 65 mph.

* WHERE...Riverside County Mountains.

* WHEN...Until 5 AM PDT Thursday.

* IMPACTS...Travel could be very difficult to impossible. The
  hazardous conditions could impact the morning or evening
  commute. Very strong winds could cause extensive tree damage.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...The snow level will fall to around 5500
  feet for late this afternoon and 4000 feet for late tonight. The
  snow level will then fluctuate around 4500 feet for Wednesday
  afternoon and evening. Periods of snow showers are expected into
  Thursday morning.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in
your vehicle in case of an emergency.

...FLOOD WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT THROUGH WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON...

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be
  possible.

* WHERE...A portion of Southwest California, including the following
  areas, Orange County Coastal Areas, Orange County Inland Areas,
  Riverside County Mountains, San Bernardino County Mountains, San
  Bernardino and Riverside County Valleys-The Inland Empire, San
  Gorgonio Pass Near Banning and Santa Ana Mountains and Foothills.

* WHEN...Through Wednesday afternoon.

* IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers,
  creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - After a brief break early this afternoon, additional widely
    scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms will produce
    moderate to locally heavy rainfall. The heaviest additional
    rainfall is expected late this afternoon through tonight,
    though moderate showers will persist at times through
    Wednesday.

You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible Flood
Warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared

...FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL NOON PDT THURSDAY...

* WHAT...Small stream flooding caused by excessive rainfall is
  expected.

* WHERE...A portion of Southwest California, including the following
  county, Riverside.

* WHEN...Until noon PDT Thursday.

* IMPACTS...Flow in the Whitewater River could result in low-water
  crossings near the river becoming impassable.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - At 1248 PM PDT, Heavy rainfall has occurred in the San
    Bernardino County mountains, and water is flowing off the
    mountains and into the Whitewater River. The river will
    continue to have flow into this evening.
  - Additional rainfall amounts of 2 to 3 inches are expected
    over the area. This additional rain will result in minor
    flooding.
  - Some locations that will experience flooding include...
    Southern Indio, eastern Palm Springs, Coachella, Cathedral
    City, Palm Desert, Rancho Mirage, Thermal, La Quinta, Mecca
    and Indian Wells.

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
