Flood Advisory
National Weather Service Los Angeles/Oxnard CA
805 PM PST Tue Feb 20 2024

Los Angeles CA-Ventura CA-
805 PM PST Tue Feb 20 2024

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.

* WHERE...A portion of southwest California, including the Santa
Monica Mountains eastward to the Hollywood Hills and Griffith Park
affecting portions of Southwest Los Angeles and Southeast Ventura

* WHEN...Until 600 AM PST Wednesday.

* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas, and
  potential for landslides.

  - At 758 PM PST, areas of light rain continue spreading across
the advisory area where local law enforcement recently
reported a rockslide. Showers are expected to continue
increasing in coverage and intensity through the overnight
hours, and a couple of thunderstorms will be possible. This
activity will have the potential to increase the risk for
additional landslides and flooding. A Flood Watch remains in
effect, and there is the possibility for warnings to become
    necessary overnight tonight.
  - Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Thousand Oaks, Malibu, Agoura Hills, Woodland Hills, Encino,
Beverly Hills, North Hollywood, Hollywood, Universal City,
Burbank, Griffith Park, Malibu Creek State Park, Calabasas,
Westlake Village, Topanga State Park, Point Dume, Pacific
    Palisades, Newbury Park and Brentwood.

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.

In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are
potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded
roads. Find an alternate route.

Residents should take protective action to prepare for flood and
landslide impacts overnight tonight.
