...WINTER STORM WATCH IN EFFECT FROM SATURDAY EVENING THROUGH
SUNDAY EVENING...

* WHAT...Heavy snow possible. Total snow accumulations of 4 to 16
  inches, except 15 to 28 inches above 7000 feet possible. Ridges
  gusting 70 to 100 mph out of the southwest. Gusts to 40 mph
  with waves of 2 to 4 feet on Lake Tahoe.

* WHERE...Greater Lake Tahoe Area.

* WHEN...From Saturday evening through Sunday evening.

* IMPACTS...Travel could be very difficult to impossible. Strong
  winds could cause tree damage and power outages. A combination
  of winds and waves may capsize small vessels on Lake Tahoe.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...There is a 10-15% chance of thunder mid-day
  Sunday, primarily along the Sierra crest.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Now is the time to prepare an emergency kit for your home and
car. If traveling consider alternate plans, remember to carry
tire chains, extra food, water and clothing. Once the storm
arrives, travel may be difficult or impossible for an extended
period of time.

...LAKE WIND ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 10 PM THIS EVENING TO 7 PM
PST FRIDAY FOR LAKE TAHOE...

* WHAT...Southwest winds 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 40 mph
  expected. Waves 1 to 3 feet.

* WHERE...Lake Tahoe.

* WHEN...From 10 PM this evening to 7 PM PST Friday.

* IMPACTS...Small boats, kayaks and paddle boards will be prone to
  capsizing and should remain off lake waters until conditions
  improve.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Check lake conditions before heading out and be prepared for a
sudden increase in winds and wave heights. Consider postponing
boating activities on the lake until a day with less wind.
