Red Flag Warning

URGENT - FIRE WEATHER MESSAGE

...RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT TODAY FOR GUSTY WINDS AND LOW
RELATIVE HUMIDITY OVER MOST OF LOS ANGELES AND VENTURA COUNTIES...

.Northeasterly offshore winds will continue today, with gusts
between 30 and 45 mph over much of Los Angeles and Ventura
Counties, then slowly weaken into Saturday and Sunday. Humidities
will generally range between 8 and 15 percent at lower elevations.
Humidities will then increase Saturday and Sunday. As a result a
marginal Red Flag Warning will continue for much of Los Angeles
and Ventura Counties for Friday, with elevated but below critical
conditions on Saturday. There are NO plans on extending the
current warning.

...RED FLAG WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 10 PM PDT THIS
EVENING FOR WIND AND LOW RELATIVE HUMIDITY FOR THE HILLS AND
CANYONS OF COASTAL LOS ANGELES COUNTY AND THE SAN GABRIEL
VALLEY...

* Winds...Northeast to east 10 to 25 mph with gusts to 35 mph in
  the hills and canyons. Strongest through mid-afternoon.

* Relative Humidity...Minimums of 8 to 15 percent.

* Impacts...If fire ignition occurs, conditions may be favorable
  for extreme fire behavior which would threaten life and
  property.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions
are either occurring now....or will shortly. A combination of
strong winds...low relative humidity...and warm temperatures can
contribute to extreme fire behavior. Use extreme caution with
potential fire ignition sources.
